Crosby Group provided complete structural engineering services for the new Kaiser
Behavioral Healthcare Center (BHC), which is designed to meet the mental health care needs of members in the Santa
Clara area at the Santa Clara Medical Center campus. The project includes 24 inpatient psychiatric beds and a
6-bed crisis stabilization unit including support spaces, as well as an interior outdoor activity yard, all within
a secure facility.
The project consists of an approximately 22,000sf one-story moment framed building, plus related surface parking
and site improvements. The project follows the sustainability guidelines set forth in the Green Guides for
Healthcare. The BHC facility is the first of its kind for Kaiser, and the completed design serves as a template
for future sites.
